The 2008/09 NBA regular season opener between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 28 will also begin Channel Five's coverage of the sport for the season.
The announcement was made following the channel's highlights of the New Jersey Nets' victory over the Miami Heat in London on Sunday. The highlights, fronted by Mark Webster, did not impress everyone but for the moment Five's one game each week is the only televised NBA action for Brits.
According to NBA.com, League Pass will be available for free from October 28 until November 4 although there is still no word yet on whether British residents will be able to utilise the online facility.
