image The Eurocup, previously known as the ULEB Cup, got underway on Monday but it wasn't a great week for the Brits involved.

Joel Freeland - Gran Canaria
The Portland Trailblazer owned power forward started for the Spanish outfit in their match in Ukraine against Azovmash Mariupol. In a game that was won 92-90 in overtime by the home side, Freeland played just 15 minutes. He scored six points on 2/6 shooting and pulled down four boards. The 21-year-old was also in foul trouble picking up four during the contest. Not a great EuroCup debut for the in-form GB international.
Freeland's Irish team-mate Jim Moran also started but finished with just four points and four boards.

Kieron Achara - Fortitudo Bologna
The former Falkirk Fury big man (pictured right) scored five points in his EuroCup debut. In 16 minutes he also pulled down three boards in his team's 78-87 loss in Germany against the Artland Dragons.

Elsewhere in Week One
- Achara may have struggled but Fortitudo Bologna team-mate DJ Strawberry made an impressive debut. In 25 minutes of the bench the former Phoenix Sun scored 29 points on 11/18 shooting despite being on the losing team.
- For the opposition ex-Michigan State point guard Drew Neitzel hit 3/3 from down town as part of his 17 points off the bench. The star man though was German Dirk Madrich who was also 3/3 from beyond the arc scoring 20 points in 16 minutes.
- Dynamo Moscow impressed on Eurosport 2 on Tuesday evening with Bostjan Nachbar scoring 24 points and adding five boards. Dynamo thrashed Barons/LMT Riga 80-61 with former New Orleans Hornet Jannero Pargo adding 14 points.
- In Tuesday's other televised game a star-studded Khimki Moscow dominated STB Le Harve winning 79-55. Carlos Delfino, once of the Detroit Pistons, showed his class tallying 17 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- The Week One MVP award went to Croat Sandro Nicevic. The big man scored 19 points on 8/12 shooting and added seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks for the Italian side Benetton Basket in their 77-72 win in Turkey against Besiktas Cola Turkey.
