The NBA tips-off on Tuesday and we continue our countdown of reasons why we can’t wait. Check back tomorrow to find out reasons four, three and two.

Reason no. 8: Fantasy basketball

American’s prefer their fantasy football and we prefer ours but there is still something exciting about bringing a side together to beat your mates. The draft itself offers you a chance to look like a genius with a few late round steals and once the season begins you have to wheel and deal with your league-mates to build the perfect team.

Reason no. 7: The new generation point guards

Jason Kidd and maybe even Steve Nash are on the decline but have carried the NBA’s assist men since the Glove and Stockton slowed down. Now Deron Williams and Chris Paul, both drafted in 2005, are leading two of the NBA’s best teams and are ready to take over from Nash and Kidd if they haven’t already. CP3 was nearly MVP last year and expect Williams to continue his improvement. Don’t be surprised if the two youngsters are battling out in the Western Conference finals.

Reasons no. 6: Watching my Wolves

Although watching the Minnesota Timberwolves may not be at the top of many agendas, I can’t wait to see how the new look team performs. Al Jefferson, who was brilliant last season, finally has a bit of help with three-point shooters around him. This will allow him more room to show off his slick low post game. Last season the Wolves didn’t have a single threat from beyond the arc but Randy Foye is back, Mike Miller is money and Kevin Love may even hit a few. My Wolves are still going to struggle but I’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.

 Reason no. 5: Deng representing

Last season was a disappointing one for Brit Loul Deng and his teammates. After promising so much when they thrashed the Miami Heat 4-0 in the 2007 playoffs, the Bulls really stank it up last season. Deng must take some of the blame; his numbers in the key categories from the previous season (although this can in part be attributed to injury). However, after a successful summer with Team GB and after getting paid expect him to return to his best. Entering his fifth year, he is now a veteran player on a young Bulls team and he showed his leadership qualities and maturity with his country this summer.
