The countdown continues with Charles Barkley, Rudy Gay and Mo Williams all getting a name check. This week we will reveal the main reason why we want the NBA back. Not long to go.
Reason no. 4: TNT Overtime
Every Thursday evening/Friday morning means TNT Overtime. The award-winning show hosted by Earnie Johnson provides a humour and insight like no other. As well as occasionally making an interesting point, Johnson’s charismatic partners Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley provide viewers with an entertaining alternative look at the NBA. Last year the duo changed diapers and Kenny Smith didn’t jump a car. UK viewers can watch the show on NBA.com. Bring on Friday morning for my first instalment.
Reason no. 3: OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay
Yes, I may have picked the Grizzlies to finish last in the West but that doesn’t mean they won’t be one of the first teams I’ll be trying to watch on League Pass. As well as being a big Mike Conley fan – from his days alongside Greg Oden at Ohio State – I also love to watch the high-flying Rudy Gay fan. Add the NBA’s third overall pick, OJ Mayo, who impressed last year at college and again in pre-season, and you have a young, exciting trio. It will also be interesting to see how Marc Gasol does at his new home after being part of his brother’s trade last season. The Grizzlies excite and intrigue and for that reason I need to see them.
Reason no. 2: The Mo Williams Show has some new guests
In 2007 we were introduced to the Mo Williams Show. Then Bucks guard Mo Williams interviewed his team-mates and we found out that Michael Redd likes Brett Favre, Charlie Bell like Richard Pryor, Andrew Bogut doesn’t like Snoop or Jay-Z and all the Bucks love Mo Williams.
Now Mo Williams has a new team and although the Bucks official website was behind Mo’s venture, it would be great for him to do his show in Cleveland. I want to know if LeBron prefers Halle Berry or Beyonce, Wally Szczerbiak prefers X-Box or Playstation and I want to see Delonte West smile, even if Mo has taken his job.
